1. Introduction
Welcome to CytoEnigma Technology Inc. (“CytoEnigma”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
We create MicroVlabs, an interactive virtual science experience available on Windows and macOS, along with related online services and the cytoenigma.com website.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and share information when you:
- Use the MicroVlabs Windows or macOS application (the “Software”),
- Visit our website (cytoenigma.com) (the “Website”),
- Create or use a MicroVlabs account, or

We wrote this policy to be understandable while aligning with global privacy principles (such as EU GDPR-style rights and similar laws in other regions).
By using the Software or Website, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect the information needed to run MicroVlabs, provide core features, and maintain a secure and stable service.
2.1 Account Information
If you choose to create a MicroVlabs account, we may collect:
- Email address (for login, notifications, and support),
- Display name or username (if you choose one),
- Account identifiers (random IDs that link your account to progress, achievements, and entitlements).
We store passwords using secure hashing. We never store passwords in plain text.
2.2 Gameplay & App Data (Desktop Software)
When you use the Software, we may collect:
- Achievements and progress data (for example, which labs you have completed),
- Session information (such as timestamps and duration),
- Basic device information (for example, operating system version, language, approximate region),
- Technical diagnostics, crash reports, and performance metrics (for example, loading times and error codes).
We do not collect:
- Keystrokes,
- Microphone or camera input,
- Contents of your personal files or folders outside the game.
2.3 Website Data
When you visit cytoenigma.com, we may collect:
- Standard web log data (for example, IP region, browser type, device type),
- Cookies or similar technologies for login sessions and basic analytics,
- Anonymous usage analytics (for example, which pages are visited and how often).
You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling some cookies may affect login or account features.
2.4 Account Entitlement Management (via Website)
If you or an institution manage account entitlements through our Website (for example, to enable access to additional labs for a course):
- We may record entitlement status (for example, which labs are enabled, and for how long),
- We may record metadata about how an entitlement was granted (for example, through a school program, instructor, or other programmatic access).
Financial and billing information for any website-based payments is processed by our payment or entitlement partners, such as Xsolla, on their own secure systems. We do not store your full card number or bank details.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
3.1 To Run Your Account and Core Features
- Authenticate your login,
- Sync your progress, achievements, and settings across devices,
- Maintain and verify your account entitlements (for example, which labs or features are enabled for your account),
- Provide access to any institution- or program-based entitlements.
3.2 To Improve and Operate the Software
- Diagnose and fix crashes or errors,
- Analyze performance and usage patterns (for example, which labs are most used),
- Improve user experience, difficulty balance, and technical stability,
- Plan new features and modules.
3.3 To Maintain Security and Prevent Abuse

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.
4. How We Store and Protect Your Data
We use reputable cloud providers (such as Amazon Web Services, “AWS”) and industry-standard security practices to protect your information. These measures may include:
- Encryption in transit (for example, HTTPS/TLS),
- Encryption at rest for certain data,
- Secure password hashing,
- Access controls and role-based permissions,
- Logging and monitoring for unusual activity,
- Periodic security and infrastructure reviews.
We do not store plain-text passwords, payment card numbers, or government ID numbers.
5. When We Share Your Information
We do not sell your data. We only share data with third parties that help us operate MicroVlabs or as required by law.
We may share limited information with:
5.1 Cloud Hosting and Infrastructure Providers
To host game services, databases, authentication, and analytics.
5.2 Analytics and Diagnostics Providers
To understand performance, crashes, and high-level usage. This typically involves pseudonymous or aggregated data.
5.3 Payment / Entitlement Partners (Website Only)
If account entitlements are managed through our Website and any payments are involved, those are handled by our partners (for example, Xsolla). Those partners may collect billing addresses, payment information, and purchase metadata under their own terms and policies.
5.4 Legal and Safety Requirements
We may disclose information if we reasonably believe it is necessary to:
- Comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request,
- Enforce our Terms of Service,
- Protect the safety, rights, or property of CytoEnigma, our users, or the public.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law (for example, GDPR in the EU/EEA, or similar laws elsewhere), you may have rights such as:
- Access – to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction – to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion – to request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal and operational constraints.
- Restriction / objection – to request that we limit or stop certain types of processing.
- Portability – to request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used format, where technically feasible.
To exercise these rights, you can contact us at support@cytoenigma.com. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request. We will respond in a reasonable time frame, typically within 30 days where required by law.
You may also:
- Disable cookies through your browser settings (which may affect Website login/session behaviour),
- Uninstall the Software from your devices,
- Request account deletion as described below.
7. Children’s Privacy
MicroVlabs is not intended for children under 13 years old, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at support@cytoenigma.com. We will take appropriate steps to delete the account and related data, consistent with legal obligations.
Where local laws require higher age thresholds for consent (for example, 16 in some jurisdictions), we follow those rules.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our Website may use cookies or similar technologies to:
- Keep you logged in to your account,
- Remember basic preferences (such as language),
- Measure site traffic and usage in an anonymous or aggregated way.
You can manage or disable cookies in your browser settings. Some features (especially login or account management) may not work properly if cookies are disabled.

Because we may use cloud providers and service partners located in different countries, your data may be transferred to or stored in regions outside your home country.
Where required by law, we take steps to ensure that such transfers are protected, for example:
- Using Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or similar safeguards for data transfers from the EU/EEA,
